For those of us who are absolutely enthralled with the award-winning TV series, Mad Men, this 1960′s inspired wedding would be a gas! Jennifer and Alexander were inspired by all things vintage and put on a Mad Men themed wedding, complete with personal touches such as her grandmother’s pearls. We not only love the bride’s Justin Alexander gown but also the cocktail style reception, where gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches were served alongside sliders and the very popular Peake-tini. This fun wedding was coordinated by Renee Aird and beautifully captured by Jenn Best Photography.

One can’t help but smile at these adorably cheerful engagement images … exactly what Danielle and Brooks were going for! Their vintage yellow and red engagement session was styled around an old photograph of Brook’s grandparents in the 1940′s. The photo was a sweet one, capturing the two of them picnicking together after sunset. It immortalised their love for each other. To see Brook’s heirloom image being preserved, and in that endeavour, helped create memories and images to showcase Danielle and Brook’s love for each other is truly heartfelt! DIY vintage garden cocktail wedding | sweetwater portraits

This DIY vintage garden cocktail wedding really sang to us! After a mountain top proposal, Emily and Drew celebrated their union with their closest family and friends, including her sister Liza, instrumental in bringing the two lovebirds together. Their nuptials were peppered with so much of their personalities, including their favourite beer from each of the cities they had lived in or experienced together. Beautifully captured by Sweetwater Portraits, the wild roses and gentle streams is the stuff that charming garden weddings are made of.

In the bride’s own words:

“Drew and I first met in Copenhagen, where he was studying abroad and staying in an apartment with my sister, Liza. I had a magical two weeks with him filled with games of hearts, local pubs, dancing in the rain and our joint discovery of “baby bites,”a glorified pig in a blanket that’s served in all corner stores in Copenhagen. The moment Drew decided I was the girl for him was when I woke up one morning and immediate dove into the leftover baby bites from the night before!

Six years later, we planned a trip to Borneo to celebrate my completion of medical school. Drew and I love adventures and so we planned a hike to the top of Mount Kinabalu, the tallest peak in South East Asia. Drew just wanted to get me to the top of the mountain without the crowds in the way. At the top, in the middle of gasping for breaths of air, he proposed and I happily accepted.

We had so much to celebrate because Liza and Tommy had just gotten engaged two days before. Tim and Drew planned this together, requesting our hands in marriage together and of course, we planned our wedding together. It was fitting since Liza and I have been doing everything together since we were young, from potty-training to college to marriage!

Our ceremony was unique in that we opted to have our families participate in it. We were married under the Quaker principle of self-union. Both of our fathers spoke, with our siblings contributing readings and prayers. Drew and I are both independent people, so the idea of marrying ourselves resonated, and felt like a natural way to start our union together.”

classic love story … in a notebook-inspired rowboat engagement session | lindsey+morgan | kelly swanson photography

A classic high school love story of boy meets girl … it conjures up thoughts of a dreamy rowboat seen, as inspired by the movie, The Notebook, beautifully captured by Kelly Swason Photography, all of which we love! Lindsey and Morgan have the sweetest tale of romance that we simply have to let them describe it to you in their words.

“Morgan and I met in high school – I was in grade 10 and he was in grade 11. I use to work the concession at our school’s basketball games and Morgan would buy one nickel candy at a time just so he could come back and see me. We really got to know each other on the school’s music trip to California: childish fun in Disneyland, sunny ferris wheel rides at Santa Monica beach, holding hands on roller coasters at Six Flags – oh young love!

After we dated for a few months, I moved across Canada with my family … but we kept in contact. Two and a half years later, after a picturesque trip to the Washington Gorge to see Coldplay, I decided to move back to Vancouver in order for Morgan and I to be together.

Fast forward just over 3 years (which in included the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, a trip to Palm Desert, and a backpack tour of Western Europe), Morgan got down on one knee and proposed to me under the tree we had carved our initials in over 6 years earlier! It’s been a bit of a road to get here, and we are so excited to be engaged and planning our forever together…I can’t wait to finally share my last name with my best friend in the world!”

Shannon and David had a cute little twist on their “first look” – without actually looking at each other. Instead, they held hands around the corner of their church before they went in for their ceremony … love!

When wedding and editorial photographer, Paula O’Hara submitted this beautifully-styled whimsical and romantic winter lake wedding shoot in Ireland to us, we knew we had to share!

We fell in love with Paula O’Hara’s dreamy and ethereal style of photography instantly. Based in Ireland but travelling all over, Paula O’Hara has enjoyed dreaming up and shooting editorials for Ireland’s top wedding magazines, including Ireland’s Wedding Journal, Getting Married in Northern Ireland and Confetti magazine.

Inspired by the dreamy work of the Pre-raphaelites and a gorgeous palette of festive reds and greens, Paula and her team headed out in the early light for a few shots. Thay had to make it a mini-shoot as it was a very cold, wet and frosty morning, but so worth it just for these frames. The floral creations really made the shoot, as did Sophie, a first time model. Paula and her collaborators hope that this shoot excites and inspires brides for their weddings.

Vintage Styled Engagement Session | Burnaby Village Museum | Kristal+Scott

We featured this adorable vintage styled engagement session in our Winter/Spring Issue Two, and knew that we couldn’t just keep the rest of these lovely images in our vault! Kristal+Scott had lots of fun moments in one of the coolest heritage buildings in Vancouver, Burnaby Village Museum. Created in 1971 and is depictive of the 1820 to 1920 era of the Lower Mainland, it was the perfect backdrop for Kristal+Scott’s fun-loving natures.

As spring blooms nearer and all of your newly engaged couples are gearing up for your engagement sessions, we hope that this styled shoot by [stu-di-o] by jeanie would inspire you to express yourselves wholely!
